The Ford Motor Company is putting three Mustang cars on the auction block. One of them will be the first retail 2010 Ford Shelby GT500. The other two are a pair of Mustang GT concept cars that have not gone on sale yet. The three Mustangs are going to be sold along with 400 other collector cars for charity on April 9-11 at the Americraft Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds. Any money received for most cars above the manufacturers suggested retail price gets donated to The Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation. Ford GT

The Ford GT, referred to by ‘Top Gear’ as the GT 40 of the 21st Century. It is a sleek, elegant, supercharged marvel. This Supercar can spit out 550 horsepower from its mid-mounted supercharged 5.4L V8 engine. It can also produce 500 foot-pounds of force. It weighs 1.5 tonnes and has a 6 speed manual transmission.
In 1995, at the Detroit Auto Show, the Ford GT90 idea was presented and in 2002, at the same show, the new GT40 concept was unveiled. The new Ford GT was similar in the external appearance, only slightly bigger and wider and 3 inches taller. As a result of which, a potential name was the GT43. Although the 2 cars are similar visually, structually they are completely different.

Ford GT 40

Anyone with neck pains may want to stand well clear of this car because when you stamp on the throttle your neck muscles really strain. Managing 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, this immense machine will take you up to 212 mph! That’s faster than the Porsche Carrera GT AND the Mercedes Mclaren SLR. This astonishing speed is a result of the 5.4 litre, supercharged V8 developing 550 bhp and 500 pounds feet of torque.
Don’t get too excited. The engine is the same as the one in the Ford Lightning Pick Up Truck! Another positive point is, when you are driving, the GT is very civilised. When you’re going 130 mph there is no need to raise your voice to talk. In fact, it’ll persuade you that it’s a normal car… But of course, it isn’t! All these things as well as the amazing breaks, precise steering and cushiony suspension add up to make one truly fantastic car.
